Hub City Writing Club

Last Wednesday of each month
5:30 PM - 7PM
Hub City Press Office: 153 N Spring Street

Join us for Hub City Writing Club - a monthly, in-person writing group for every kind of writer!

Whether you’re almost done with the first draft of a novel-length thriller, or just enjoy dabbling in poetry while the kids are at soccer practice (or are somewhere in between!), Writing Club is your place to practice creativity and cultivate community here in Spartanburg.

During these ninety-minute sessions led by Writing Coordinator Nina Barrios, you’ll warm up with a brief generative activity before enjoying open time to discuss works-in-progress and exchange feedback on short excerpts (considering limited time, we ask that any piece you bring to share with the group is no longer than three pages).

Don’t have work you’d like to share this month? No problem! You’re still welcome to come and have fun with the activity, cheer on your fellow authors, and celebrate the craft of writing.

After your first meeting, Writing Club attendees must be members of Hub City Writers Project. Membership requires an annual minimum donation of $40 per year and includes discounts at Hub City Bookshop, frequent-buyer perks, exclusive access to events, and more. Drop by Hub City Bookshop anytime (during business hours!) for help getting signed up.

Nota bene: Writing Club is reserved for adults ages 18+. We meet in the conference room at the Hub City Press office (153 N Spring St), NOT Hub City Bookshop. Attendance is limited to 17 people due to the size of our office, so reserve your spot in advance and let us know if you can't make it so we can free up your slot.
