About the Book:

Leaving Long Beach, a limited ensemble of poems by Eric Lawson is emotional puppetry as he navigates a reality that we are all a bit closer to than we should feel comfortable with. After finding himself homeless on the streets of this vibrant California Beach city, post Covid, Lawson proves to be both a survivor and alchemist of lost hope turning to his muse for the survival skills and understanding not easily obtained on the unfriendly city streets.

This collection is an encapsulating glimpse into the heart and perspective of one of our best modern-day writers hitting the skids but coming out on the other side. It is a panoramic view of Long Beach looking out the windows of buses, park restrooms and cafes with free wifi. From the mouth of the Covid pandemic and homelessness crisis to post Covid workforce, a poetic narrative unfolds of strength, tenacity, and resilience.
