An Evening with Kent Wascom - Keynote Address for Writing In Place

Join us for an evening with Kent Wascom, our keynote speaker at this year's Writing in Place Conference! Kent will talk a little about his journey to publication and his tips for writing. This event is free and open to the public as well as our Writing in Place participants. There will be an opportunity to chat and ask questions at the end of the keynote address.

Kent Wascom is the author of The New Inheritors, Secessia, and The Blood of Heaven. He was born in New Orleans and raised in Pensacola, Florida. Wascom’s first novel, The Blood of Heaven, was named a best book of the year by the Washington Post and NPR. It was a semifinalist for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award and longlisted for the Flaherty-Dunnan Award for First Fiction. Wascom was awarded the 2012 Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival Prize for Fiction and selected as one of Gambit‘s 40 Under 40. He lives in Louisiana, where he teaches at Southeastern Louisiana University.
