The Still Home Teachers' Guide is for those teachers who love poetry themselves but have difficulty finding ways to make the genre, in the current terminology, “relevant” to their students. In this companion to Hub City’s poetry anthology, Still Home: The Essential Poetry of Spartanburg, Edwin P. Epps presents more than a dozen classroom exercises and ideas to engage high school and college students in an exploration of poetry.

Writes Epps in this guide: “The reality of poetry is that most of it is remarkably and immediately approachable. This is especially true of the writing of poets—like those in Still Home—who share a place, a time, a way of life with their readers. Indeed, such poets themselves can be a teacher’s greatest resource in his or her quest to unlock the poetic box.”
