The Spartanburg
Writing Project at the University of South Carolina Upstate hold its fourth
annual Pamper Your Inner Poet Writing
Marathon on Saturday, October 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on the USC
Upstate campus. This event is being held as part of theCelebration of National Day of
Writing, held on October 20, which explores
and celebrate the integral role writing has in each of our lives.

Cinnaminta is a free online service which enables you to request your
poems, original writing, celebrations, acts of remembrance, prayers,
messages or anything else to be read out aloud in places around the
world which are special for you but which you cannot easily visit.
Cinnaminta allows you to choose a reader or offer to be a reader for
someone else and enables a multi-media recording of the reading to be

MUSC seeks poetry submissions for new building |
|
South Carolina's Poet Laureate, Marjory
Wentworth, and a committee of faculty and staff at the Medical University of
South Carolina have been engaged to acquire work by SC poets for public spaces in
a new MUSC medical facility Accepted poems will be included in a chapbook that
will be available to patients and staff. Selected lines, phrases and poems will
be displayed in select areas of the building. Deadline June 15, 2008 and $200 for accepted poems.

Scholarship offered to women in the arts |
The Emrys Foundation is seeking applicants for
its Alice Conger Patterson
Scholarship. This award encourages South
Carolina women to pursue
continuing education in the arts. Women 35 years of age or older, who are
South Carolina residents and U.S. citizens,
are eligible. Applications are
accepted from individuals only: groups, organizations, and businesses may
not apply.
