MUSC seeks poetry submissions for new building
South Carolina's Poet Laureate, Marjory Wentworth, and a committee of faculty and staff at the Medical University of South Carolina have been engaged to acquire work by SC poets for public spaces in a new MUSC medical facility Accepted poems will be included in a chapbook that will be available to patients and staff. Selected lines, phrases and poems will be displayed in select areas of the building. Deadline June 15, 2008 and $200 for accepted poems.

Scholarship offered to women in the arts
The Emrys Foundation is seeking applicants for its Alice Conger Patterson
Scholarship.  This award encourages South Carolina women to pursue
continuing education in the arts.  Women 35 years of age or older, who are
South Carolina residents and U.S. citizens, are eligible.  Applications are
accepted from individuals only:  groups, organizations, and businesses may
not apply.

The Writing Room Offers Advanced Fiction Workshop

Registration has begun for "Advanced Fiction," an eight-week workshop for adults (18 and over) who have completed a draft of a short story and are ready for the workshop process. This class, which will be held in Greenville, begins Tuesday, March 4.
