Donate to Hub City

More than 300 people each year make a contribution to support the Hub City Writers Project. These donations are tax deductible. With a contribution of $100 or more, we send you the year’s lead title in hardback and list you in the front of the book as a sponsor. Please consider supporting Hub City this year.

Call for Entries in 2009 Hub City Prizes
The Hub City Writers Project will award the Hub City Prizes again in March 2009 for excellence in creative writing among Spartanburg County adults. Prizes will be awarded for poetry and fiction. The deadline for entry is Feb. 1, 2009. Winners each will receive a full, $500 scholarship to the Wildacres Writers Workshop, a week-long creative writing summer school in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Second- and third-place winners receive full or partial scholarships to Hub City’s “Writing in Place” workshop July 31-Aug 2, 2009 at Wofford College.

The contest is open to all Spartanburg County residents 18 years or older. Entrants may submit manuscripts in both genres. In the poetry category, they should submit three poems. In fiction, they should submit one story of no more than 10 pages, double-spaced. Previous winners may not submit in the year following their award.

Each entry must be typed with letter-quality printing in a standard 12-point typeface. Each writer should include a title page with his or her name, social security number (or other identifying number) and address. The author's name should not appear anywhere else on the manuscript. Entries should be mailed to the Hub City Writers Project, 149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave, Suite 2, Spartanburg, S.C. 29306.

Winners will be notified by April 1, 2009. Entrants should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for notification. No manuscripts will be returned.
