South Carolina native Sam Howie has published or
has forthcoming more than thirty pieces of fiction and nonfiction in such
publications as Shenandoah, The Writer's Chronicle, Fiction
International, Snake Nation Review, Potomac Review, and Southern
Humanities Review. His work appears in two Hub City
anthologies, In Morgan's Shadow and Hub City Christmas.

First
alternate for the 2005 South Carolina Individual Artist Fellowship in prose, Howie has
served as Acting Director of Creative Writing at Converse
College, where he currently
teaches and directs the Writing
Center. In the
summer, he directs and teaches fiction in the college's Young Writers Summer
Workshop.
In
2002, Howie received his MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College. He
currently lives in Spartanburg
with his wife, Margaret, and their son, Jed.
