Peter Cooper is a musician, writer, and native
South Carolinian. A graduate of Wofford
College, he is currently
the senior music writer at The Nashville Tennessean. Cooper's first
book, Hub City Music Makers, was published in 1997; it explores the
popular music legacy of Spartanburg.

Prior to
moving to Nashville, Cooper worked as a freelance
music writer and teacher in Rock Hill,
South Carolina. His articles
appeared in Creative Loafing and Mountain Xpress, among others. Since
working with the The Nashville Tennessean, Cooper has covered stories of a variety of
subjects-from American Idol to Dolly
Parton. He has also appeared as a music consultant on various CNN, CMT, MSNBC,
Biography Channel programs.
Cooper
also tours as a singer-songwriter and has worked with many noted musicians,
including Todd Snider, Emmylou Harris, and Ricky Skaggs. He has performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman. His
music has also been praised by The New
York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and
USA Today.
