Poet Alex
Richardson is the author of Porch
Night on Walnut Street, published by Plainview Press in
2007. He has twice been selected as the alternate Poetry Fellow by the
South Carolina Arts Commission. In 2009
he earned a Fulbright award to teach at the University
of Madeira in Portugal. His poetry can be found in the Hub City publication, Still Home: The Essential Poetry of Spartanburg. He also has a poem about Robert Frost in Stars Fell on Spartanburg: Hub City's Celebrity Encounters.

Alex began writing poetry at the
University of South Carolina as an undergraduate English major. He received an
MA in creative writing in 1991 and after a brief but enlightening stint as a
construction worker and electrician, he moved to Nashville
where he taught English at Nashville Tech for two years before accepting a job
to teach 7th grade English and coach basketball and tennis at the University School. In 1997 he moved to Hattiesburg,
Mississippi, to pursue a PhD from the Center for Writers at the University of
Southern Mississippi.
Alex
wrote, published and studied in Mississippi until 2000 when he earned a
doctorate. He currently teaches creative writing, modern poetry, Shakespeare,
and film history at Limestone College, where he serves as chair of the
department.
